I would have killed to have a std::list or an a' list, where the compiler could have told me where the incorrectly shaped tuple. The list was too large to dump, and true debugging tools were almost non-existant. Towards the end, it ran into a wonderful crash (non-deterministic, of course) where a tuple element of a huge list was the wrong shape. That's just a load of bologna.Įxample: About a year ago, I worked for several months on a mid-sized Erlang project. The thing that always irritates me about pro-dynamic-typing arguments is the claim that the errors caught by static typing never come up in practice.
